The Romania circuit - the afternoon of the second day - Sibiu - The 21st of May 2012

If on the way to Curtea de Arges the landscape as seen from inside the bus was of green arable areas, the one around the Bradisor hydroelectric dam prior to having reached Sibiu wasn't much different ... the green colour seemed to be all over.

Located in the Southern Transylvania, Sibiu once the capital of the principality is known in German as Hermannstadt because of having been Romania's centre of the German minority since the medieval times. Its historical cente is stunningly beautiful and there is no doubt one can easily fall in love with it.

Many of us did as we strolled along its pedestrian street.

On the North side of the large Square the Roman Catholic Church (1726-33), which we visited and to its left the eighteenth century late baroque-style buildig - the Brukenthal Palace which was the home of the Governor of Transylvania, Samuel von Brukenthal from 1777  to 1787.

Heading towards the Piata Huet the History Museum in the Old City Hall ...

... and those curious looking and disturbing "eyes" following every move you make ...
