Amsterdam (Day 3 - morning cont.) - the 24th September 2011

From the Train Station we walked towards Prins Hendrikkade overlooking the Oosterdok, not before having passed St. Nicholas Kerk and the canals to the right ... Montelbaanstoren,  the1512 fortified Tower, whose main purpose was to defend the Dutch fleet could be seen in the distance standing on the 16th century Oude Schans Canal.

To the left, docked very close to the Nederlands Sheepvart Museum, a replica of an East India Company ship, which sank on its maiden voyage in 1749.

To its side  NEMO, the amazing cruise like building housing the Amsterdam's  Science and Technology Centre.

The well preserved windmill we had walked all the way for ..., was there right in front of us, although we would still have to walk along the Wittenburgergracht and the Oostenburgergracht to reach it.

An abandoned bicycle and a local statue of children playing made me think back to my childhood and a certain nostalgia took over me momentaneously.

We sat down quietly sipping the drinks we ordered at the 1636 De Rieker Windmill cafĂ© preparing ourselves to walk further towards the TroppenMuseum ...
