My 19 Day Iranian Azerbaijan circuit - From the Caspian rives to Tabriz and Takht-e Soleiman - Day 11 (early afternoon) - On the way to Khoy - Khoy Unesco designated Shams-i Tabrizi commemorative Tower ensemble - The 19th of May 2017

We set off to Khoy in another of those unexpected everchanging colour landscape scenario drives I was beginning to look forward to ... not knowing what to expect in chromatic terms was in itself a challenge.

I don't think local travellers in this part of the country were so commonly used to foreighers because every time we stopped several cars would equally stop by and come and talk to us, as well as take photos with us and welcome us into their country. Never had I been so "pampered" ...

Upon reaching Khoy we headed to the now Unesco designated memorial park of Shams-e Tabrizi, who was credited as having been the spiritual instructor of Rumi. As we were listening to the precious  information provided by our French guide several children cycling around the compound kept on getting closer and closer to where we were sitting expecting, I believe, to talk to us. I was impressed by the story involving both Rumi and Shams but also with the tower and its rather unique rough-looking texture.

As we were leaving, a couple literally placed their child in Joelle's arms so as to take their photo together ... I seized the moment as they both looked happy.
