Joe Berardo's Art collection - Temporary exhibition at the Cultural Centre in Belém, Lisboa - The 8th of August 2015

I was in desperate need of filling in my "soul" with beauty as I went through a difficult day that brought about sad memories on the anniversary of my daughter's demise, despite the fact that I tried hard not to let sadness take over me.

Art has a soothing effect and although I'm not particularly keen on Modern Art I headed to CCB so as to "get acquainted with" part of Joe Berardo's collection and particularly the temporary exhibition being held - an ensemble of quite a few paintings and sculptures pertaining to his collection, which having been selected by him and as in accordance with his personal perspective, deserved special recognition.

There were two in particular that drew visitors' attention as we walked into the first gallery because of their huge size, the one by the American artist Frank Stela occupying part of the floor right at the entrance and the 23,5 x 13,5 metre painting by the Russian-French artist Marc Chagall covering an entire wall up to the ceiling.  I wasn't able to photograph Marc Chagall's but by getting isolated and close up images.
