The 8 day cultural trip to Iran - "Iranian Treasures" - (Day 6 morning cont.) - Na'in's citadel and the Castle of Narin's remains - The 21st of September 2014

As we were heading towards the remains of the Castle of Narenj we came across a village square with several sympathy flowers most of us associated with some sort of funeral ceremony, as most pictures in them corresponded to an image of the same boy, until the guide let us know that they were tribute ones and the boy 's image was supposed to identify an association caring for orphans. On one of those tribute flowers we could see numbers corresponding to the money handed out by people to help support the organization.

Still in that particular square we were called the attention to a water access stairway, which used to serve the population of the village in what was a rather intricate system.

Dotted with quite a few old citadel houses in ruins the village kept a certain charm with its bâdgirs (aerial towers) and the remains of the castle, whose construction materials together with its style of architecture support the idea that at least the castle must have been built in the Pre-Islamic era. According to other evidence it might belong to the Partyian period, though its exact use is not known, though to be presumably been used as a military and official compound.
