We left fairly early to the heart of Jaipur known as the "Pink city" because of its prominent buildings washed in that colour. Our first stop was Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) erected in 1799. Its Baroque-like composition with projecting windows and balconies with perforated screens built of lime and mortar was really impressive ... as if one was bewitched by it.
From there we took to the Fort Palace of Amber pertaining to the citadel and established in 1592 by Man Singh I, which we reached by going on a rather short but interesting elephant ride along the cobbled path leading to its entrance overlooking the Maota Lake.
We then walked into a first courtyard with a three level structure with many frescoes and beautiful latticed screens. Having been built in 1621, the Ganesh Pot was named after the Hindu God Lord Ganesh.
