The Sri Lanka circuit (The last evening) - Negombo - The 11th of December 2011

We reached Negombo by early evening and it wasn't but when we walked into the Hotel we would be spending the last night at ("half night", once we were flying back home very early in the morning) that I realised it was almost Christmas ... Father Christmas in a local canoe looked quite odd but I can understand people adapting seasons like this one to the local reality.

We were supposed to have the rest of the evening free, but I believe those who had been expecting to sunbathe weren't too lucky with the weather, even though we could see people on the beach. It was rather chilly and a bit windy for this time of the year, but the view from our balcony compensated for the dispointement of Colombo's sightseeing tour.

The hotel was quite far from the centre of the village but we walked all the way there in an attempt to spend the last "coins", though there wasn't anything special to buy. We got back to the hotel in time for the sun set and a rather exquisite farewell dinner arranged for us.

Apart from us every other person in the group seemed particularly happy with the circuit. I feel that having always travelled with Nouvelles Frontières (this time was the exception) we have got used to a different type of  travelling approach and above all very good guides. There were some highlights (Sigiryia and the folk dances of Kandy) during the circuit, but with due respect for the organization of this cicuit I believe we'll travel Nouvelles Frontières next time.

I have hundreds of images, quite a few books and films, some souvenirs and a local outfit, not to mention the many moments to remember( forever) ...

...That alone has made the trip worthwhile.
